Achievements and awards. Most students are laureates of prestigious musical competitions and TV projects such as People’s Artist, New Wave, Slavonic Bazaar, the Eurovision song contest, etc. In 2017 Andrei Marukhin (student of Professor I.M. Bril) was awarded three prizes at the prestigious festival of jazz music in Montreux (Switzerland).

Teaching staff. The teaching staff members use student-centered and practice-oriented approaches, give creative interactive classes. Training is provided by outstanding musicians, pop and jazz maestros including People’s and Honored Artists of the Russian Federation, Honored Art Workers of the Russian Federation and Honored Cultural Workers of the Russian Federation. The teachers organize numerous all-Russian and international competitions and festivals of pop and jazz music (the International jazz festival competition of young performers Gnesin-Jazz, the International competition Gnesin-Rock, Gnesin-Jazz-Voice-2018). Professor A.V. Oseichuk annually holds the jazz music festival Sax Days. All teachers of department actively give concerts in Russia and abroad, participate in the jury of the largest international and all-Russian competitions (Jazz World; Grand Piano in Jazz; Many-faced Guitar). They are annually invited to secondary and higher education institutions of Moscow and other cities as Chairpersons of the State Examination Commission. They organized and held the Russia’s first scientific and practical conference “Pop and Jazz Art: History, Theory, Practice.”

Facilities and resources. The Academy has four concert halls. State-of-the-art recording and video equipment ensures high-quality recording of concerts. There are specialized classrooms for individual and practical classes in special disciplines. The library and record library collections are regularly replenished with new editions and audio and video recordings.

Education. Academic activity is maintained at a high level thanks to arrangement of creative and concert performance activities. Students regularly attend concerts of modern outstanding performers, premieres of new compositions, master classes, concerts of the academy teachers’ classes in performance courses, participate in all-Russian and international competitions, the best students undertake their study placement at Berklee School of Music. Our students annually win more than 33 prizes in international and all-Russian competitions. A high level of professional training provides an opportunity for students to combine studies and work in various musical bands, concert and educational organizations, production centers of Russia, and TV projects.

Strategic partners. The academy cooperates with State Music Academy of Pop and Jazz Art, Gershwin Children’s Music School and other children’s music schools and children’s schools of art of Moscow and the Moscow Region, the Institute of Modern Art, Moscow State University of Culture, the Silantiev Academic Large Symphony Orchestra, the State Chamber Orchestra of Jazz Music named after Oleg Lundstrem, the State Jazz Orchestra under the direction of I. Butman, Big Jazz Orchestra conducted by Peter Vostokov, etc.
