Prolongation of your stay in the Russian Federation
Prolongation of your legal stay in the Russian Federation is due to the period of validation of three documents. These documents are interconnected; each of them has unique rules on prolongation:
- International passport
- Visa (for countries with visa regime)
- Migration card (for countries with non-visa regime)
- Procedure of validation migration registration (temporary registration)
Temporary trip from Moscow to another Russian city or another country
If a foreign student is willing to leave Moscow, first of all, he/she must inform the Department of Visa-Migration Support and the Dean’s office of their faculty about the leave:
- Necessarily come to the Department of Visa-Migration Support;
- Fill in the application with the date of leave and expected date of arrival.
Important!
If a foreign student leaves Moscow without telling the Department of Visa-Migration Support and the Dean’s office of their faculty about it, the Academy will send a request to the police and the Federal Security Service (or «ФСБ» in Russian) within 3 days, which can lead to federal investigation.
If the trip to another Russian city lasts more than 7 days, a foreign student should:
1. Validate migration registration (temporary registration) in each place of stay:
- Hotel;
- Inn;
- Apartment etc.
2. Tell the Department of Visa-Migration Support (if a student lives in the dormitory of Gnesin Russian Academy of Music) or the owner of the apartment (if a student rents an apartment in Moscow) that he/she validated migration registration (temporary registration) in another place
Important! Getting a new migration registration notification (new temporary registration) annuls the previous one.
On the date of arrival in Moscow a foreign student must validate a new migration registration (temporary registration). To do that, ask the Department of Visa-Migration Support (if a student lives in the dormitory of Gnesin Russian Academy of Music) or theмowner of the apartment (if a student rents an apartment in Moscow) to help you.
If a foreign student is going to leave Russia, he/she should:
1. Necessarily come to the Department of Visa-Migration Support;
2. Fill in the application with the date of leave and expected date of arrival.
For citizens of countries with visa regime: multiple educational visa allows a foreign student to leave the country on any day within the period of validation of your visa, but not the last 30 days of the period of validation in order to have enough time to submit documents for prolongation if a student is going to return to Russia
In case visa expired when a foreign student was abroad, a new visa can only be validated in the country of citizenship. To do it, an invitation is required.
