About the magazine

The journal «Contemporary Musicology» is an open-access peer-reviewed scholarly online journal.

Founded: 2017.

The Journal publishes research studies in the field of music history and theory, music performance, as well as the methodology of music studies in interdisciplinary contexts. The Journal’s scope corresponds to the subject categorie of 5.10.3. Types of Art (Musical Art) (Art History).

Languages of publication: Russian and English.

The Editorial Team is guided by the Core Practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Only original and previously unpublished materials are accepted for consideration of publication and peer review. The Journal publishes original research and review articles, translations of foreign studies with commentaries, analysis of historical documents, and book reviews.

«Contemporary Musicology» is included in the List of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK), in which major research results from the dissertations of Candidates of Sciences (Cand. Sci.) and Doctor of Science (Dr. Sci.) degrees are to be published.

All the archival materials of the journal are preserved in the Federal State Budgetary Institution Scientific and Technical Center “Informregister”, which acts as an external repository. The Journal is indexed in the RINTS scientific database; all publications are deposited in the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU.

The journal is registered in the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications, Certificate of Registration: ЭЛ № ФС 77 - 86261 27.10.2023.
