Loss and spoliation of documents

If a foreign student lost their passport, he/she should:

1. Immediately inform the Department of Visa and Migration Support
2. Immediately inform the police department and receive a ticket-notification
3. Bring the ticket-notification to the Department of Visa and Migration Support
4. Come to the embassy of your country and apply for a new passport.

If you receive passport in the embassy: you need to bring all the required documents to the Department of Visa and Migration Support on the same day and reapply for visa and migration registration (temporary registration).

Important: A local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (the Migration Department) is responsible for transferring your visa to a new passport and validating migration registration. According to the law, the period for changing documents is 3 workdays since the date of receiving a new passport.

Important: If it is impossible to receive a new passport in Russia, you can get a return certificate in the embassy of your country. You can return to Russia to continue your studies upon a new visa made in accordance with a new invitation.

If a student lost or spoiled their personal identification (ID card), they should:

1. Immediately inform the Department of Visa and Migration Support
2. Immediately inform the police department about loss of the ID card and receive a ticket-notification
3. Bring the ticket-notification to the Department of Visa and Migration Support
4. Prepare all the required documents for applying for a new migration registration notification (temporary registration) in accordance with a new ID card and bring it to the Department of Visa and Migration Support

If a student lost their migration registration card, they should:

1. Immediately inform the Department of Visa and Migration Support
2. Immediately inform the police department about loss of the migration registration card and receive a ticket-notification
3. Follow the instructions of a police officer
4. Receive a new migration registration card
5. Prepare all the required documents for applying for a new migration registration notification (temporary registration) in accordance with a new migration registration card and bring it to the Department of Visa and Migration Support

In case of loss of the detachable part of migration registration notification, immediately inform the Department of Visa and Migration Support
