Chinese-Russian Research Center for Musical Culture Opens at China Conservatory in Beijing

March 6 2025

The grand opening ceremony was attended by a delegation from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music: Rector Alexander Ryzhinskii, Vice-Rector for Research Tatiana Naumenko, and Director of the Scientific-Creative Center for the Study of Russian-Chinese Musical Relations Zuo Zhen-Guan.

The Center will focus on organizing creative events, conferences, and academic internships; holding concerts; and developing joint research and publishing programs.

«I hope the results of our centers' work will include vibrant joint music festivals, academic conferences, the publication of collaborative research works and educational materials, and their translation into Russian and Chinese», shared Alexander Ryzhinskii. «It is highly symbolic that the opening of our centers takes place in the year of the Great Victory over fascist Germany and militarist Japan — a most important chapter in the history of Russia and China! Today's event will become another significant milestone in strengthening friendship and cooperation between our nations and peoples».

The Rector also read a congratulatory letter from Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova:

«I am confident that the Center's activities will contribute to deepening dialogue in the field of musical education, as well as to the realization of research-educational projects and bright creative initiatives. I wish the Research Center success and prosperity, new ideas and impressive achievements that will make a substantial contribution to the development of cultural cooperation between Russia and China!»

During the opening ceremony, the leaders of the two institutions signed a cooperation agreement in the field of Russian-Chinese scientific, creative, and educational interactions, which aims to unite researchers from various regions of China and Russia.

The years 2024-2025 have been declared the Cross Years of Culture of China and Russia. The events are held under the auspices of celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and are aimed at further developing Russian-Chinese relations and expanding bilateral cultural ties.
