An educational workshop-seminar was organized by the Union of Composers of Russia with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Russian Musical Union, and «Musical Life» magazine. The three-day intensive program included lectures, workshops, public discussions, and creative assignments for young musicologists, journalists, and writers covering music. All events took place in the Conference Hall of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.
The opening day featured lectures by Evgenia Krivitskaya, project curator and editor-in-chief of Musical Life, on music podcasts; Natalia Litvinova, Head of Information and Web Resources at TV Channel Kultura, on how to create memorable reports and a public talk with Alexey Trifonov, Artistic Director of the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, addressed the role of media in promoting cultural events.
On the day two participants and guest attendees joined: a lecture by Olga Rusanova, music columnist for Radio Russia, titled «Report vs. Critical Review: Different Genres or Elements of a Single Piece?»; a session with Alexander Ostrovsky, blogger, host, and creator of the «Stradivaly» project, exploring content creation for new media.
Throughout the three days, workshops were held to analyze texts submitted by participants as part of their applications. The final day was dedicated to discussing creative assignments completed during the intensive. All participants received certificates, and the best works will be published on Musical Life’s website.
The closing ceremony saw the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Association of Music Journalists, Critics, and Musicologists and the Association of Music Educational Institutions. The document was signed by Evgenia Krivitskaya, AMJ General Director, and Galina Mayarovskaya, AMOU President, Honored Artist of Russia and Winner of the Russian Government Prize. The two associations plan to jointly organize festivals, concerts, competitions, masterclasses, conferences, seminars, and roundtables; participation of staff, educators, students, and performers in AMJ-led creative and educational events and collaborative publications and research projects.
Galina Mayarovskaya emphasized: «Our associations share many common goals, and I am confident we will collaborate fruitfully.»
Evgenia Krivitskaya added: «Music criticism and musicology are vital specializations present in all educational institutions. We are ready to provide young scholars with a platform for practical work.»
