Biography
He graduated from the Gnesin State Musical and Pedagogical Institute (now the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music) in piano and completed the assistant traineeship in chamber ensemble.
Since 1967 he has taught chamber ensemble and accompaniment. In 1985 he became head of the Department of Chamber Ensemble, String Quartet and Collaborative Piano and later, after their division, head of the Department of Collaborative Piano.
In 1999 V. A. Vlasov was awarded the academic title of Professor.
From 2000 to 2011 he served as Vice-Rector of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music for Academic Affairs and is currently Adviser to the President of the Academy and Professor in the Department of Collaborative Piano.
Numerous performances by V. A. Vlasov as ensemble player and accompanist have been recorded and preserved in the archives of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK).
He has repeatedly chaired juries of accompanists’ competitions and given masterclasses both in Russia and abroad.
In 2020 V. A. Vlasov received a Letter of Appreciation from the Russian Academy of Education.
