He was born and raised in a musical family.
At music school he studied piano and trumpet.
In 1989 he entered the Gnesin State Music College, Jazz Department, where he first became acquainted with jazz. He studied with outstanding teachers Igor Bril, Mikhail Okun, Vladimir Kuptsov, and Natalia Savinkova.
After graduating from the College in 1993 he entered the Gnesin State Music and Pedagogical Institute, later renamed the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.
In his first year at the Academy he became a diploma‑winner of the All‑Russian Competition for Young Jazz Performers in Rostov‑on‑Don and performed with his trio at the international festival Junior Jazz ’95 in Vilnius.
In 1995, at the invitation of saxophonist and Professor Alexander Oseychuk, he recorded the album Swing Spring.
In 1997 he won First Prize at the All‑Russian Jazz Competition in Rostov‑on‑Don.
He played in the quartet Zelyonaya volna, led by Alexander Oseychuk, touring throughout Russia and abroad.
He has appeared at many jazz festivals, including:
- Jazz Province (1997);
- Vivat Jazz, Orenburg ’96;
- Birštonas ’96 (Lithuania);
- Jazz over the Volga, Yaroslavl (1997).
With the quartet Zelyonaya volna he has recorded three albums:
- Episode No. 7;
- Dedication;
- Forgive Us, Duke.
Since 2000 he has worked professionally as an arranger and has collaborated with musicians in various genres.
In 2004 he took part in the Open World Programme and undertook an internship at the University of Louisville (USA), attending seminars and masterclasses by leading jazz musicians such as Jamey Aebersold, John Hith, Pat Hith, and others.
From 2004 to 2010 he taught at the State College of Wind Art and the Children’s Jazz School, and published a two‑part textbook entitled Getting to Know Jazz.
Since 2011 he has taught at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. His students have repeatedly become laureates of major jazz competitions and festivals, including Gnesin Jazz, Royal in Jazz, and the All‑Russian Jazz Competition in Rostov‑on‑Don.
He serves on juries at various festivals and competitions and has collaborated with leading Russian musicians such as Alexander Oseychuk, David and Alexander Bril, Igor Butman, Vladimir Kiselev, Oleg Kireyev, and others.
In recent years he has performed with his own ensemble, playing the Hammond organ.
