Biography

Performer (violin), teacher.

She was born in Moscow and received her education at the Gnesin State Music School (now the Gnesin College of Music) and the Gnesin State Musical and Pedagogical Institute (now the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music).

She has been engaged in teaching since 1984.

Since 1984 she has taught at Children’s Music School No. 27, since 1992 at the Gnesin College of Music, and since 1994 at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.

She successfully combines teaching with artistic and research activities.

Among O. O. Tikhonova’s students are laureates of All‑Russian and international competitions and festivals, and her graduates perform in leading orchestras and concert organisations in Russia, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

She has repeatedly received honorary diplomas and certificates for the high professional standard of her prize‑winning and diploma‑holding students at international competitions, as well as letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for her contribution to cultural development.

She regularly gives open lessons and masterclasses in various cities in Russia and across Europe, serves on attestation commissions of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and is invited as a jury member to international competitions for children and young performers.

She carries out scholarly and methodological work within the Methodological Association of Music Schools of Moscow.
