Biography

Sergei Mikhailovich Sirotkin was born in 1979 in Troitsk, Moscow Region.

In 1995 he graduated from Music School in piano. In 1999 he completed the Choral Conducting Department of the Gnesin State Music College. From 1999 to 2004 he studied composition at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music (class of Professor A. I. Golovin). In 2006 he completed the assistant traineeship at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.

From 2007 to 2012 S. M. Sirotkin studied organ at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music (supervisor – Professor Alexander Vladimirovich Fiseisky). From July 2012 to July 2013 he studied in the Master’s programme at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music (class of Professor Alexander Vladimirovich Fiseisky).

As an organist, harpsichordist, clavichord and harmonium player, as well as a composer, S. M. Sirotkin regularly takes part in the International Symposia «The Organ in the 21st Century» and the International Festivals «Musical Offering to Johann Sebastian Bach» at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.

Since February 2012 S. M. Sirotkin has taught the course «Notation in Early Organ Music» for undergraduate organ students. His teaching has subsequently expanded to include the disciplines «Source Studies and Interpretation of Baroque Music», «Thoroughbass», «Study of Symphonic Scores with Organ» and others.
