She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tartu with a degree in Russian Philology and from the Tartu Music College in piano.
In 1998 she defended her Candidate’s dissertation in the field 10.02.01 «Russian Language» on the topic «The Structural, Semantic and Functional Specifics of Military Aviation Engineering Terminology», and in 2007 she defended her Doctoral dissertation in the field 20.02.02 «Military Pedagogy and Military Psychology» on the topic «Intensifying the Teaching of Specialised Military Language to Foreign Military Personnel in Aviation Higher‑Education Institutions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation».
The academic title of Associate Professor in the Department of Russian Language was conferred on her in 2012, and the title of Professor in the speciality «Theory and Methodology of Vocational Education» in 2016.
From 1991 to 2010 she taught linguistic disciplines in the Department of Russian Language at the N. E. Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy.
Since 2011 she has worked in the Department of Language Communication at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, where she teaches courses in linguistics and pedagogy.
She is the author of more than 100 scholarly works, including 2 monographs, textbooks, teaching‑and‑learning packages, teaching aids and research articles on the formation of professional communicative competence in foreign students, among them:

Her professional interests include language didactics; methods for developing communicative competence in special‑purpose language; professionally oriented intercultural communication; innovative language‑didactic technologies in teaching Russian as a foreign language; functional grammar; and terminology.
She supervises postgraduate students in the field of music‑pedagogical research.
She is a member of the Working Group for the coordination of preparatory departments and faculties of federal state educational institutions that implement additional educational programmes preparing foreign citizens to study professional educational programmes in Russian under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
