Sergey D. Reshetov

He graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, and headed the Separate Demonstration Orchestra of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He has served as Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, conductor of the Silantyev Orchestra, conductor of the Russian Symphony Orchestra «BOYAN», and Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of the Moscow University of Culture and Arts.

In recent years he has worked as Professor in the Orchestral Conducting Department of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. For many years his works have been performed with great success at the international festival «Moscow Autumn».

Sergei Reshetov’s music is distinguished by its contemporaneity, high craftsmanship, vivid and contrasting thematic writing, reliance on Russian classical and folk traditions, clarity of form, and dynamic development. His professional command of orchestral resources and his pursuit of colouristic effects are heard to particular advantage in his works for wind and symphony orchestra.
