Biography

In 1995 he graduated from the Donetsk State Prokofiev Conservatoire.

He has taught at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music since 2005.

Over these years he has trained many accomplished professionals, including Alexei Chumachenko, Pavel Protasov, Alexander Zavolokin, and Dmitry Shushkov, as well as laureates of All‑Russian and international competitions: Maxim Novikov (2006, 2007), Andrei Aminov (2007), Sergei Korchagin (2010), Ivan Katkov (2010), Dmitry Shorr (2010), Alexander Kozhaev (2011), Alexander Anisimov (2012), Rustam Salmasov (2013), and Roman Plotnikov (2015).

Graduates and students of his class perform at major international jazz festivals, including:

  • Triumph of Jazz;
  • Jazz in Hermitage Garden;
  • Cherry Forest;
  • Eurasia;
  • Jazz Province and others.

They also appear in club concerts and make recordings for television and radio programmes.

Since 1988 he has maintained an active concert career.

He has been a participant and laureate at numerous festivals in Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Tver, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Novokuznetsk, Tolyatti, Tbilisi, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kyiv, Odessa, and Tartu.

He has taken part in various artistic projects in Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, and the USA.

He has performed with leading Russian musicians, including Igor Bril, Georgy Garanian, Viktor Danilin, Alexei Kuznetsov, Anatoly Kroll, David Goloschekin, Yakov Okun, Arkady Shilkloper, Sergey Manukyan, Igor Butman, Igor Yurchenko, Sergei Grigoriev, Vladimir Vasilkov, Boris Savelyev, and others.

He has also appeared with renowned international artists such as Curtis Johnson, Ada Dyer, Arlee Leonard, Art Van Damme, Wynton Marsalis, John Stowell, J. D. Walter, Valery Ponomarev, and Grace Garland (USA); Peter King and Dick Pearce (UK); Pascal von Wroblewsky (Germany); Artur Dutkiewicz (Poland), among many others.

He is the author of methodological works for double bass and bass guitar.
