Москвина Ольга Олеговна

Biography

She graduated with distinction from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music in 2010 and completed postgraduate studies there in 2013 under the supervision of Professor Irina S. Stogniy. The topic of her diploma thesis was «The Symphonic Works of Richard Strauss: At the “Crossroads” of Music and Literature».

In 2013 she defended her PhD thesis in Musicology on the topic «Principles of Narrativity in the Symphonic Works of Richard Strauss».

From 2006 to 2008 she worked as a research fellow in the M. I. Glinka State Central Museum of Musical Culture, in the Research, Exhibition, and Educational Department «Museum P. I. Tchaikovsky and Moscow».

She has taught since 2005, giving courses in theoretical disciplines to students at various levels. Since 2013 Olga O. Moskvina has taught in the Department of Producing and Management for the Performing Arts at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, and also holds a part‑time position in the Departments of Analytical Musicology and Music Theory.

Her main professional interests include:

  • the interaction of music with other arts;
  • narratology and principles of narrativity in music;
  • issues of musical content;
  • methodology of art history;
  • questions of style, particularly Biedermeier and late Romanticism;
  • questions of interpretation and the reading of musical works.

Olga O. Moskvina is a regular contributor to scholarly conferences, where she presents papers on her research.
