Denis Igorevich Morozov is Dean of the Faculty of Contemporary Music Industry, Senior Lecturer in the Choral Conducting Department, Director of the Academic Choir of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, Principal Chorus Master of the Gnesin Contemporary Choral Music Ensemble «Altro Coro», and a laureate of international and all‑Russian competitions.
He graduated with distinction from the Magnitogorsk Music College attached to the M. I. Glinka Magnitogorsk State Conservatory (Academy) in the class of Associate Professor M. M. Nikitina, then studied at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music from 2009 to 2015 in the Choral Conducting Department (class of Professor M. M. Apeksimova, Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation and laureate of the Government Prize). In 2017 he completed his assistant‑traineeship under Professor S. A. Chukov, Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
In 2010, while still a fifth‑year student, he founded the «Academic Men’s Choir of the Choral Conducting Department», bringing together students and graduates of the department and other institutions; this choir has since become a laureate of an international competition.
Since 2015 Denis Igorevich has taught in the Choral Conducting Department of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, sharing his knowledge and experience with young musicians. His teaching style, grounded in a deep understanding of music and respect for tradition, enables students to develop their talents fully.
In 2015–2016 he directed the third‑year vocal ensemble of the Choral Conducting Department at the Gnesin Music College. He is Principal Chorus Master of the Gnesin Contemporary Choral Music Ensemble «Altro Coro», which has repeatedly won international competitions.
From 2017 to 2022 he led the course ensemble for the third, fourth, and fifth years of study.
From 2018 to 2023 he directed the choir of the Yury A. Speransky Opera Studio Theatre.
Since 2020 he has been Director of the Academic Choir of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. Under his leadership the ensemble continues to develop the academy’s performance traditions while exploring new forms of expression and advancing the art of choral singing. The choir’s repertoire today includes Russian sacred works from the 18th to 20th centuries, Russian and Western classical pieces, folk‑song arrangements, and music by contemporary composers, and the ensemble regularly collaborates with other musicians and groups in joint projects and concerts.
Denis Morozov is co‑author of the textbook «Contemporary Choral Music» (2022), written together with the Rector of the Gnesin Academy, Professor Alexander Ryzhinsky, and Choral Conducting Department lecturer Maksimilian Chikhachev.
Since 2024 he has served as Dean of the Faculty of Contemporary Music Industry.
