Biography

Education:

He graduated from the Kaliningrad Music College (class of V. A. Voronkov, 1991).
He then graduated from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music (class of Honoured Artist of Russia, Professor N. G. Filippov, 1997) and completed a postgraduate assistant traineeship at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music in 1999.

Since 2001 he has taught at the Brass and Percussion Department of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. He gives masterclasses at music institutions in Russia (Tver, Kaliningrad, Ryazan, Taldom). Among O. A. Makarishin’s students are laureates of all‑Russian and international competitions.

Concert and performing activities:

  • 1994–1998 – soloist of the Orchestra of Symphonic and Popular Music of VGTRK Ostankino under A. Mikhailov;
  • 1998–2006 – soloist of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow State Philharmonic (principal trombonist since 2003);
  • since 2006 – soloist of the State Symphony Orchestra «Novaya Rossiya» under Yu. Bashmet;
  • he actively participates in the concert life of Moscow and other Russian cities, performing as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles;
  • as a member of orchestras he has repeatedly taken part in recordings and live broadcasts of concerts both in Russia and abroad (Japan, Korea).
