Biography

Teacher.

She was born in 1948. In 1967 she graduated from the Omsk Music College (domra class of V. G. Patrashova), and in 1972 from the Gnesin State Musical and Pedagogical Institute (now the Gnesin Academy, domra class of V. S. Lunin).

From 1972 to 1975 she taught domra at the Kaluga Music College.

Since 1976 she has taught at the Gnesin Academy, where she has served as teacher and Senior Lecturer, and since 1996 as Associate Professor of domra.

For many years N. I. Lips has carried out focused and fruitful research and teaching work, successfully addressing issues of repertoire development for domra quartet and other Russian folk instrument ensembles.

Achievements:

  • preparation of anthologies for domra quartet for publication;
  • preparation of collections of works for domra duet;
  • co‑authoring (with V. P. Kruglov) the article «Transcribing Violin Works for the Three‑String Domra»;
  • co‑compiling (with V. A. Muntean and V. P. Kruglov) the «Ensemble Class Syllabus»;
  • writing the article «The Domra Quartet: Its Potential and Role in Training the Performer»;
  • developing the teaching aid «On Standardising Notational Conventions in Music for Domra»;
  • producing numerous transcriptions and performance editions of a wide range of works for domra and ensembles.

N. I. Lips provides ongoing methodological support to teachers at children’s music schools, music colleges and higher‑education institutions.
