Tatyana Levitina was born in Moscow into a family of musicians. She displayed musical talent at a very early age and, at just six years old, was enrolled in the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of the renowned pedagogue T. E. Kestner. In 1976, Tatyana Levitina entered the Moscow State Conservatory, graduating in 1982 under the guidance of Professor T. P. Nikolayeva.
Levitina began her performing career during her school years, at which time she also made her first radio and television recordings. Later, she performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in Russia and abroad, including in Hungary, Italy, Bulgaria, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.
Her artistic experience was significantly enriched through collaborations in masterclasses with such prominent contemporary conductors as Pierre Boulez, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Yuri Simonov, and Helmuth Rilling.
According to Gennady Rozhdestvensky, «Tatyana Levitina’s playing is marked not only by remarkable virtuosity and a rare ability to quickly master new material of any complexity, but also by a subtle stylistic transformation and a cohesive, convincing interpretation of the musical dramaturgy of the works she performs».
Since 2006, Levitina has headed the piano department of the «Orpheus’ Fire» International Summer Academy of Arts, which is held annually in various cities across Bulgaria. Her students regularly and successfully participate in many international piano competitions and are winners of numerous prestigious awards.
In 2006, Tatyana Levitina was awarded the title of «Honored Artist of Russia».
Levitina successfully combines her teaching position at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music with her concert career and regular service as a jury member for various international competitions in Russia, Italy, Spain, Romania, and Bulgaria. She conducts annual masterclasses both in Russia and abroad, including at such prestigious institutions as the G. B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna and the A. Vivaldi Institute in Bolzano.
Since 2011, Levitina has collaborated with the «Absolute Pitch» (Absolyutny Slukh) program on the Kultura TV channel, serving as the author of numerous segments for the show.
Tatyana Levitina is the author of the book Basic Aspects of Students’ Pianistic Development: The Experience of the Russian School, published in Florence in 2004.
In 2017, T. Levitina’s book Some Aspects of Piano Education was published in Moscow.
Every year, Tatiana Levitina holds seminars on various aspects of piano training in different Italian cities, such as Rome, Bolzano, Florence, Bologna, and others.
