Biography

M. V. Kravets graduated in 1982 from the Gnesin State Musical and Pedagogical Institute with a degree in piano (class of Professor A. A. Alexandrov), and in 1995 completed the assistant traineeship there in collaborative piano (class of Associate Professor S. F. Margaritov). Since 1982 she has worked as accompanist in the Department of Solo Singing, in the classes of V. V. Gromova, L. K. Yaroslavtseva, S. M. Khromchenko, V. L. Chaplin, Z. A. Dolukhanova and N. Yu. Yureneva.

Diploma winner and laureate of All-Union and international competitions:

  • 14th All-Union M. I. Glinka Vocalists’ Competition (Alma-Ata, 1991) – certificate and prize for best accompaniment;
  • International Vocal Competition «Yantarny Solovey» (Kaliningrad, 1991);
  • 10th International Tchaikovsky Competition – diploma and title of Best Vocal Accompanist (Moscow, 1994);
  • 16th International M. I. Glinka Competition – certificate and prize for best accompaniment (Ufa, 1995);
  • 8th Open All-Russian Student Vocal Competition «Bella Voce» – diploma «Best Accompanist» (Moscow, 2000);
  • International Vocal Competition «Art and Education of the 21st Century» – concert programmes prepared with People’s Artist of the USSR V. P’yavko, People’s Artist of Russia L. Magomedova and La Scala soloist Mauro Augustini (Italy) (Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Tyumen, 1997);
  • Grand Prix and laureate title in the nomination «The Art of Accompaniment» (Finland, 2009).

M. V. Kravets maintains an active concert career in Russia and abroad. She has toured in France, China, South Korea and Spain. She is a member of the International Union of Musical Figures and of the Irina Arkhipova Foundation, and has given a series of concerts with laureates of the M. I. Glinka International Competitions in Smolensk and St. Petersburg.

As accompanist she has performed with People’s Artist of the USSR and Bolshoi Theatre soloist V. P’yavko, People’s Artist of Russia L. Magomedova, La Scala soloist Mauro Augustini, and People’s Artists of Russia and Bolshoi Theatre soloists A. Naumenko, E. Zelenskaya and I. Dolzhenko.

Author and performer of concert programmes within the Collaborative Piano Department project «Gnesin Public Philharmonic»:

  • «Composer Portrait» (Massenet, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff);
  • «Opera Synopsis» (Leoncavallo «Pagliacci», Mascagni «Cavalleria rusticana»);
  • «Faces of the Baroque» (Bach, Handel, Gluck);
  • «N. Medtner. Songs to Texts by Goethe» and others.

Since 2004 she has served on the jury of the International Vocal Competition «Art and Education of the 21st Century» (nomination «The Art of Accompaniment») within the framework of the International Forum «Musical Performance and Pedagogy» (Italy, Portugal, Austria, Finland).

Since 1997 M. V. Kravets has taught in the Collaborative Piano Department. Her students and graduates work successfully in music educational institutions, concert organisations and theatres throughout Russia. P. Nebolsin, E. Malashenko and A. Anasenko have completed internships in the Young Artists Programme of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.

Her students actively participate in departmental concert projects, festivals and competitions. A. Anasenko, V. Valova, A. Kozlova and R. Vakhitova are laureates of international competitions in the nomination «The Art of Accompaniment».

M. V. Kravets has twice been seconded by the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music to CBS Media Conservatory (Seoul, South Korea) as a teacher (2005, 2006).
