Performer (violin), educator.
Born in 1961, he received his initial musical education in Kharkiv. In 1968, he entered the N. D. Leontovych Children’s Music School No. 4, studying in the class of V. G. Sedukh. In 1972, he enrolled in the Kharkiv Secondary Specialized Music Boarding School in the class of I. V. Zaslavsky.
In 1978, A. A. Koshvanets became a second-year student at the Academic Music College of the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Professor B. V. Belenky). From 1980 to 1985, he continued his studies at the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Professor B. V. Belenky). From 1985 to 1988, he completed his postgraduate studies there (class of People’s Artist of the USSR, Professor V. A. Klimov).
Competition Awards:
- Winner of the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig (Germany, 1984) — First Prize and Gold Medal;
- Winner of the International Carl Nielsen Violin Competition in Odense (Denmark, 1988) — First Prize and Queen Margrethe’s Prize;
- Winner of the International Vincenzo Bellini Competition in Caltanissetta (Italy, 1995) — First Prize.
Performing since the age of 23, A. A. Koshvanets has appeared with many renowned orchestras, including:
- Gewandhaus Orchestra;
- Staatskapelle Dresden;
- Odense Symphony Orchestra;
- NDR Radiophilharmonie (Hanover);
- NHK Symphony Orchestra (Japan);
- State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after Evgeny Svetlanov;
- Russian State Symphony Cinema Orchestra;
- National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine;
- Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
He has worked with such conductors as V. Gergiev, T. Sanderling, P. Kogan, S. Skripka, E. Serov, O. Maga, V. Dudarova, D. Liss, V. Zdorenko, J. Panula, and V. Ponkin. He tours extensively in Russia, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Japan, Korea, and other countries, performing solo recitals. He participates in international festivals in these and other countries and is actively involved in charity events and concerts organized by various charitable foundations.
He is a soloist of the Moscow State Philharmonic.
The musician combines his touring career with teaching and educational activities. Since 1988, A. A. Koshvanets has been teaching at the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Associate Professor of the Violin Department). In 2009, he was appointed Head of the Violin and Viola Department at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, holding the rank of Professor.
He is constantly involved in the work of state certification and examination commissions, as well as in the juries of international and regional competitions.
A. A. Koshvanets regularly conducts master classes in almost all regions of Russia (from Blagoveshchensk to Kaliningrad), as well as abroad. He also holds master classes at the Sirius Educational Center (Sochi).
A. A. Koshvanets, together with D. Elyashev and S. Grigoryev, is the author of a new class of computer games called «MUSIC PUZZLE». This patented educational music program, developed with the support and active participation of the Russian Federation’s Educational and Methodological Center and the Ministry of Culture, has been implemented in many music schools across Russia. It has undergone successful testing and received high praise from both students and teachers.
