S. E. Khitev was born in 1975 in Omsk. In 2000, he graduated from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, majoring in piano performance (class of Professor V. M. Tropp). In 2002, he completed his postgraduate studies (assistantship-internship) at the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory under the guidance of Professors V. V. Kastelsky, S. L. Dorensky, and P. T. Nersesyian.
He is a laureate and winner of several competitions, including:
- Laureate of the 2nd A. N. Scriabin International Piano Competition (Moscow, 2000);
- Winner of the 8th International Piano Competition in Andorra (2002);
- Recipient of the «Best Accompanist» diploma at the International N. Paganini Competition (Moscow, 2006).
Since 2003, he has been a faculty member and assistant at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. From 2003 to 2007, he served as an assistant to Professor A. G. Skavronsky.
Since 2014, he has held the position of Associate Professor at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. He is also a visiting professor at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music (China).
He conducts masterclasses in Moscow, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ulan-Ude, Vladimir, Smolensk, Ryazan, Kolomna, and various cities in the Moscow region. He serves as a jury member for children’s and youth competitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Omsk, Kazan, Volgodonsk, Bryansk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Kolomna, Pushkino, Elektrostal, and others.
Many of S. Khitev’s students are laureates of all-Russian and international competitions.
He is the author of the educational manual Chrestomathy of Polyphonic Piano Music by 19th-Century Russian Composers (Moscow, 2018) and the scholarly article «"Conversations at the Piano" as a Method of Teaching Young Pianists in Professor A. G. Skavronsky’s Class», published in the peer-reviewed journal Higher Education Today (Moscow, 2018).
S. E. Khitev has toured extensively abroad (Spain, Andorra, USA, Korea, Poland, Montenegro, China) and throughout Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Oryol, Kursk, Volgodonsk, Omsk, Kolomna, etc.).
S. E. Khitev was awarded a Certificate of Honor by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation «For significant contributions to the field of education and diligent work» (Order dated March 25, 2026).
