He was born in 1964 and graduated with honours from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class of Professors B. V. Belenky and M. S. Glezarova.
He began his professional career in 1988 in the orchestra of the Moscow State Philharmonic, where he later became first assistant concertmaster.
From 1994 to 2003 he served as concertmaster of the State Chamber Orchestra of Russia, and from 2003 to 2016 as first concertmaster of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and first violin of the Bolshoi Theatre Quartet.
He has frequently appeared as guest concertmaster and soloist with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Moscow State Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Chamber Orchestra and other ensembles in Russia and abroad (Austria, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Spain, Canada, Lebanon, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, the USA, France, Sweden, Japan and other countries), performing in halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Kennedy Center and the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
He regularly performs in chamber music concerts, and as soloist and ensemble player has recorded for labels including Philips, Chandos, Delos and Pentatone.
Since 2010 he has taught in the Gnesin College of Music (String Department), and since 2012 in the Violin and Viola Department of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.
