Alexander P. Kazachenkov

Казаченков Александр Петрович

Biography

In 1978 he graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the tuba class of Professor A. K. Lebedev.
Since 1986 he has taught at the Gnesin State Music College.
Since 1990 he has taught the brass ensemble class at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.

Over the course of his teaching career A. P. Kazachenkov has trained more than thirty laureates of all‑Russian and international competitions. His graduates hold leading positions in major performing ensembles in Moscow and throughout Russia (the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia; the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after E. F. Svetlanov under M. Gorenstein; the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra under V. Fedoseyev; the State Symphony Orchestra «Novaya Rossiya» under Yu. Bashmet).

He gives masterclasses in many cities across Russia and abroad.

Concert activities:

  • 1975–1976 – member of the Moscow Academic Music Theatre named after K. S. Stanislavsky and V. I. Nemirovich‑Danchenko;
  • 1976–1991 – soloist of the Orchestra of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of the USSR;
  • 1991–2003 – soloist of the Russian National Orchestra under Mikhail Pletnev;
  • 2003–2010 – soloist of the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra under Vladimir Spivakov;
  • since 2000 – member of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra of Russia.

He is a regular member of various brass ensembles, including the Brass Quintet of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia under Honoured Artist of Russia, Professor V. M. Prokopov; the Low Brass Ensemble of the Russian National Orchestra under People’s Artist of Russia, Professor A. Skobelev; the Brass Quintet of the Russian National Orchestra under Honoured Artist of Russia, Professor Ye. Ya. Fomin; and the Moscow Tuba Quartet.
