Biography

Laureate of all‑Russian and international competitions.

In 2003 she graduated with honours from the Higher School of Music of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), in the class of Honoured Artist of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Professor O. G. Kosheleva. She was a scholarship holder of the «New Names» Foundation and the National Foundation «Vozrozhdenie».

In 2009 she graduated from the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music in the class of People’s Artist of Russia, Head of the Cello, Double Bass and Harp Department, Professor V. K. Tonkha.

In 2012 she completed postgraduate studies at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music.

She defended a qualifying paper in the speciality «Musical Art» on the topic «J. S. Bach. Sonata in G minor for Viola da Gamba and Keyboard. Reading the Author’s Text in Modern Performance Practice», supervised by Associate Professor of the Department of Music History V. M. Kelle.

Published works:

  • In 2021, within the framework of an All‑Russian scientific and practical conference, the articles «Specific Features of an Individual Approach in Working with Gifted Children» and «A Comprehensive Approach to the Development of Cello Technique» were published.
  • In 2023 an article entitled «Cello Technique: Fundamental Issues of Cello Pedagogy» was published in an international journal.
  • In collaboration with composer V. Voloshin she prepared and released an edited version of a Cello Concerto.
  • «Duets by Early Composers» for Two Cellos (edition by V. K. Tonkha and N. S. Ivanova).

The high artistic potential of Nadezhda Ivanova has been recognised by such outstanding musicians as D. Shafran, M. Rostropovich, V. Berlinsky, N. Shakhovskaya and T. A. Gaidamovich.

The repertoire of N. Ivanova encompasses almost all periods and styles of cello music from the Baroque era to the present day.

Students of N. S. Ivanova’s class have taken part in concerts dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of E. F. Gnesina in the Grand Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and in the Concert Hall of the Moscow State Philharmonic named after P. I. Tchaikovsky.

She maintains an active concert career both as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles and serves on the juries of Russian and international competitions.
