Biography

In 1979 she graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (class of V. F. Rozhdestvenskaya), and in 1984 she completed the Conservatory’s assistant traineeship under I. K. Arkhipova.

From 1980 to 1984 she was a soloist with the Moscow Regional Philharmonic, and from 1984 to 2006 a soloist with the Moscow State Philharmonic Society.

L. G. Ivanova is a laureate of the following competitions:

  • the M. I. Glinka All‑Union Vocalists’ Competition (First Prize, 1981);
  • the «Bel canto» International Masters Competition in Brussels (First Prize, 1983).

Since 2002 L. G. Ivanova has taught at the Gnesin Music College. Since 2005 she has headed the College’s Vocal Department, and in 2012 she was invited to join the Solo Singing Department of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music as an Associate Professor.

Her students include prize‑winners of vocal competitions such as Lyudmila Larikova, Lali Khabalova, and Maria Gorodetskaya.

L. G. Ivanova regularly serves as chair and jury member at many vocal competitions, including the A. P. Ivanov International Competition and the «Rose of the Winds» International Festival‑Competition of Children’s and Youth Creativity, among others.

She is the author of several publications, including:

L. G. Ivanova is an Academician of the International Academy of Creativity and a member of the Presidium of the International Union of Musical Figures.

In October 2016 L. G. Ivanova was awarded the title «Honoured Worker of Musical Art».

Since 1992 she has held the title Honoured Artist of Russia, and since 2003 the title People’s Artist of Russia.

L. G. Ivanova has been awarded the N. I. Sats Gold Medal «For an Outstanding Creative Contribution to the Development of Art».

In January 2013 L. G. Ivanova received the N. I. Sats Gold Medal «For an Outstanding Creative Contribution to the Development of Art».

In October 2016 L. G. Ivanova was awarded the title «Honoured Worker of Musical Art».
