Creative achievements:
Alexander Gennadyevich Gilev represents the contemporary Russian school of composition, is a member of the Moscow Union of Composers, and a laureate of international and all‑Russian composition competitions in France, Slovenia, and Russia. Numerous author concerts of his music have taken place in Moscow, St Petersburg, Rostov‑on‑Don, Novosibirsk, and other Russian and foreign cities.
His personal style is marked by an organic interaction of diverse idioms, including impressionism, neo‑romanticism, avant‑garde, and rock. Exceptional craftsmanship, refinement, and subtle psychological insight are combined with a constant search for new ways of shaping musical ideas. The orchestral palette of his works reveals a brilliant command of orchestral texture and colour, and his compositions have gained wide recognition, being performed by leading orchestras both in Russia and abroad.
