Admissions

Yes. Training of foreign citizens is carried out on the basis of:

  1. budgetary grants (quota of the Government of the Russian Federation);
  2. budgetary grants (if you have the status of a compatriot);
  3. paid contract.

Foreign citizens can study at the federal budget expense in two cases:

1) if they are compatriots living abroad;

2) within the framework of the quota for the education of foreign citizens established by the Government of the Russian Federation (to learn more contact the representative offices of Rossotrudnichestvo).

Compatriots are persons who were born in a country, or who lived in it and have signs of a common language, history, cultural heritage, traditions and customs, as well as descendants of these persons in a straight descending line.

You need to attach the birth certificates of your parents (parent), thereby proving that they were born in the territory of the former USSR or the RSFSR and your birth certificate (with a notarized translation). Documents must be sent to the Admissions Office: priem@gnesin-academy.ru

Yes. All entrance tests are held in Russian. All educational programs imply studying in Russian language. If your Russian language proficiency is insufficient, you will need to take preparatory courses.

If a foreign citizen cannot enter the territory of the Russian Federation due to closed borders, then applicants will be given the opportunity to pass online entrance examinations. Admission requirements as well as examination procedures can be found here (russian).

Yes, the Academy has a dormitory with a limited number of places. The accommodation fee is set by the Academy.

Students who live in the dormitory must follow certain rules.

Places in the dormitory are provided for the entire period of study for students studying on a budgetary basis. For more information please consult Department for work with foreign students and implementation of preparatory programs. If you study on a basis of a paid contract, the accommodation in a dormitory is possible, but not guaranteed.

Bachelor programmes (BA):

applications are accepted from 20 June to 07 July 17.00 (Moscow time)
entrance exams are held: July 8 - July 25
rating lists are published: July 27.

Master programmes (MA)

applications are accepted from 1 July to 20 July 17.00 (Moscow time)
entrance exams are held: July 21 - July 29
rating lists are published: August 03.

Specialist degree 5-year programmes

applications are accepted from 20 June to 07 July 17.00 (Moscow time)
entrance exams are held: July 8 - July 25
rating lists are published: July 27.

Assistantship programmes

applications are accepted from being updated
entrance exams are held: being updated

PhD studies

Documents can be submitted only online through the applicant's personal account. Read the rules for online submission of documents (russian).

The list of required documents for admission can be found on the page of the level of education you are interested in.

If you have not previously pursued a full-time educational program at the Academy, then such a letter from the Academy is not provided.

If you have previously studied at the Academy full-time or you are studying at the moment, such a letter can be provided by consent of the deans of faculties, heads of departments.

A letter of admission to the Academy is not required when applying for training under the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation.

These documents are accepted at indekanat@gnesin-academy.ru ONLY from the 10th of February to the 30th of June.

All the documents should be attached to ONE e-mail and must be properly SCANNED, otherwise the application will not be accepted for further processing.

Visa invitations are issued starting the 1st of June.

Preparatory courses

The Academy annually organizes preparatory courses for foreign applicants to prepare for entrance examinations to BA, MA, 5-year specialist degree and assistantship programs.

Over the course of 9 months, foreign applicants will have the opportunity to attend classes in the Russian language, literature, history, social studies, as well as take speciality classes with teachers who will acquaint students with the programs of entrance examinations.

No. The Preparatory courses don’t guarantee your entering to the Academy.

Education

Please be advised that you need to comply with the Russian Migration Law.

Foreign citizens arriving in Russia to study (with or without visa) must register with the Migration Service within 7 days of their arrival. Students of the Academy must bring the documents (your passport and migration card) to the Department for work with foreign students and implementation of preparatory courses (2nd floor, rooms 22,23) within 24 hours of their arrival.

Foreign students living in the Academy’s dormitory will be registered automatically. In case you rent an apartment, you must ask your landlord for registration.

You must have a medical insurance.

If you need to extend your registration, visa, or leave Russia for a certain period of time you must notify the Department for work with foreign students and implementation of preparatory courses at least 30 days in advance.

During pandemic restrictions the Academy provides education using Google Classroom platform for all foreign students who can’t enter the Russian Federation to study. All lessons are held in Russian.

Please be advised that if the current regulations of your country allow border crossing for students, then you MUST come to Russia to study offline.

For training, the student needs a personal computer connected to the Internet. The Internet speed should be appropriate for video and audio calls. The computer must be equipped with a web camera, speakers and microphone, because the educational process includes webinars and audio courses.

Also, we recommend using the following browsers: Google Chrome version 55 and higher, Mozilla Firefox 36.0 and higher, Internet Explorer 8.0 and higher. To view video and audio content, it is recommended to install Adobe ® Flash ® Player software version 25 or higher on your computer. To view materials in PDF format, you must install the Acrobat Reader DC software. To send and download archive files, you must install the WinRar, 7ZIP software.

After successfully passing entrance exams and confirmation of payment of your education at the Academy, we will create an e-mail address for you in the @gnesin-academy.ru domain (based on gmail).
