Teaching staff. The educational programme is carried out by PhDs and Doctors of Sciences, leading specialists in the field of musical art and management of Gnesins Academy. Experienced specialists working at production centers, record labels, opera houses, etc. are also engaged in the educational process.
The Academy regularly holds meetings and master classes with authority figures of the modern music industry. In 2019 master classes, lectures and open discussions were held with Dmitry Konnov (Managing Director, Universal Music Russia), Vera Gorbulenko (Marketing Director, United Media Agency), Denis Sharko (General Director, SyncLab) dedicated to the topic “The role of a music producer in advertising, cinema, TV shows. And how much is music really worth?,” as well as Maxim Voroshilov (Director, Business Initiatives & Analytics, Warner Music Russia), Roman Shmargon (Manager of music projects “VKontakte”), and others.
Previously the Department held meetings with Fedor Eliutin (a music promoter), Christoph Engel (chief sales officer of the Salzburg Festival), Svetlana Surganova (leader of the Surganova and the Orchestra band), Dmitrii Ermak (a soloist of The Phantom of the Opera musical), Michael Sheen (President of the P.I. Tchaikovsky Foundation (the Republic of Korea)), B.S. Barabanov (music editor of the Kommersant newspaper), and many others.
Facilities and resources.The Academy has computer classes, the library and record library, and a reading hall with internet access. The group classrooms and student lounges have a network of electronic information terminals with free access to library collections (educational, scientific, reference literature) as well as audio and video recordings.
Education. Students are actively involved in seminars and roundtable discussions, exhibitions devoted to the development of music industry in Russia and in the world. Gnesins Academy hosts numerous concerts and festivals, students being organizers, masters of ceremonies and performers. In 2019 students took part in diverse projects such as the Golden Mask Festival, the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians, the Colisium International Music Forum, WaveForum 2019, and other events. Previously students participated in numerous projects: the international festival competition “Masters of Music” in the style of Classical Crossover, the Our Time all-Russian youth festival, the Grigorovich music competition, the Festival of Arts in Varna and other events.
The first producers graduated in June 2017. The alumni of the faculty include celebrities such as Aleksandra Savelyeva, Yulianna Karaulova, Sergei Shirokov, Elizaveta Martynova, Yulia Savicheva, and others.
Strategic partners. The faculty constantly collaborates with The Association of Laureates of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Union Studio Record Label, Butman Music Group, the Directorate of the Golden Mask Russian National Theater Award, the Russia-Culture TV channel.
